Our Story

Bart and Christy Stewart opened School of Rock Murfreesboro on NW Broad Street in 2025 — a brand new location they launched from scratch. Bart is a bass player and educator; Christy is an entrepreneur and business coach. The Rutherford County Business Network introduced them to town in March that year — folks were already spotting the two of them at Friday Nights on the Square before the doors ever opened.

Inside the building, Music Director Matt Geisel runs a team of eight instructors covering guitar, bass, drums, keys, and vocals — Cassie Browning, Lowell Alexander, Fox DeVaughn, Zoey Moore, Brady Romano, Collin Freyer, Johnny Malone, and Dave Moraata. They run the full School of Rock catalog here: Little Wing and Rookies for the youngest players, Rock 101 for beginners, the Performance Program, House Band, Songwriting, and an Adult Program. A Recording & Production class is on the horizon for fall 2026.

The studio runs Monday through Thursday from 3 to 9, and Saturdays from noon to 4. The room fills with kids cycling through private lessons and band rehearsals that build toward live shows — the House Band gigs around town about twice a month. Summer camps are weeklong and end on a stage; a Songwriting Camp is on the calendar for July 2026. The method the whole brand is built on is the same one Bart and Christy brought to Murfreesboro: you learn an instrument by playing songs in a band, in front of an audience, from day one.

From the moment you walk in, you can feel the vibrant energy and passion for music that fills the air. The instructors are not only talented musicians but also fantastic mentors who know how to make learning fun — students of all backgrounds and skill levels come together to create a supportive environment.
